- MSU College of Law’s moot court team won first place in the 24th annual Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition hosted by Brooklyn Law School. The appellate advocacy competition explores issues at the forefront of evidentiary law that are, consequently, of great interest to law students, practitioners, educators, and judges.
- MSU College of Law’s moot court team won third place “best petitioner’s brief” at the 34th annual Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Moot Court Competition hosted by Fordham Law School. This competition offered teams the opportunity to test their appellate advocacy skills before distinguished members of the judiciary as well as securities practitioners from leading New York firms, investment banking houses, and federal and state agencies.
- Renee Newman Knake, a lecturer in law at MSU College of Law, recently was honored with a fellowship from the National Institute for Teaching Ethics & Professionalism (NIFTEP). The fellowship includes attending NIFTEP’s national workshop, which brings together leading academics and devoted practitioners involved in promoting the teaching of ethics and professionalism.
- Kristi Bowman, MSU College of Law professor, was awarded an MSU Lilly Teaching Fellowship for the 2009–10 academic year. Intended to advance the university’s continuing efforts to support excellence in teaching and learning, the MSU Lilly Teaching Fellows Program provides select tenure-track faculty the opportunity to maximize their teaching abilities by encouraging different teaching skills.
- For the fifth consecutive year, the Michigan State Law Review has risen significantly in the national rankings of law journals, as reported in Washington & Lee Law School’s annual law journal rankings, the authoritative source for such rankings. The MSU journal now ranks 70th out of 205 flagship journals.
